The Minister for Employment, Labour Relations and Pensions, Ignatius Baffour Awuah has indicated that the government has strengthened the management of pensions.

This, he said, has resulted in the upward adjustment of monthly pension pay by 25% for pensioners on the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) payroll.

He added that the government has implemented the Ghana jobs and skills project to support skills development and job creation.

He said this during a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, August 28.

Mr Baffour Awuah noted that the establishment of the Ghanaian-European Centre for Jobs, Migration and Development (GEC) has also enhanced opportunities for the provision of decent employment for job seekers; particularly young persons who have the intention of migrating outside Ghana for jobs or have returned from abroad for a variety of reasons.

The Minister assured of his Ministry’s continuous effort to improve the welfare of workers and employers while maintaining a peaceful labour front.
