The Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship & Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has responded to claims made by Joyce Bawah Mogtari regarding the CEO of the Keta Port.

Madam Mogtari, a former Deputy Transport Minister, had alleged that the Keta Port CEO has been receiving a salary for nearly eight years without performing any duties.

In a Facebook post on Friday, September 27, Madam Bawah stated that the Keta Port CEO has drawn salaries for no work done and that such conduct would not have been tolerated under former President Mahama’s administration.

“Imagine a JM CEO being paid for 8 years for no work done, the story of Keta port. Imagine being paid Ghs21,000 as CEO for the world’s most expensive pit, the National Cathedral $58 million.”

Her comments stirred debate on social media, with some questioning the management of state resources. However, Kofi Ofosu Nkansah quickly refuted the claims, describing them as misinformation.

Mr Ofosu Nkansah urged Ghanaians to disregard the allegations made by Joyce Bawah, arguing that they were not accurate and intended to mislead the public.

In his Facebook post, Mr Nkansah clarified that while the CEO of Keta Port holds that title, he also serves as the CEO of Tema Ship Yard.

According to him, the CEO has been actively working in that capacity since his appointment, fulfilling his responsibilities at the shipyard.

Mr Nkansah emphasised that the claims of the CEO receiving salary without performing any duties were baseless, pointing out that the role at Tema Ship Yard requires full-time involvement.

He accused Mogtari of spreading false information to tarnish the reputation of the CEO and the current administration.

The NEIP CEO further encouraged Ghanaians to seek accurate information and not be swayed by what he termed politically motivated misinformation.

He reiterated that the CEO in question is effectively handling his responsibilities at the Tema Ship Yard while also overseeing the development of the Keta Port.

“Please ignore the misinformation that the Keta Port CEO was appointed and draws a salary for no work done. He was appointed to start the project with additional responsibility at Tema Shipyard and that’s where he has been working at Ghapoha, Tema since his appointment.”

“On the Keta Port proper: Since his appointment in April 2019 to manage the Keta Port project, Feasibility Studies on the Project have been completed. Environmental and Social Impact Assessment was completed in May 2024. They have completed market sounding with 30 companies responding and engagements ongoing with about 8 of them,” he posted.
