Former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for Damongo, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has paid glowing tribute to the late Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru, describing him as a distinguished public servant and a beloved uncle.

Expressing his condolences to the people of Damongo and Gonjaland, on Friday, August 8, 2025, Mr. Jinapor praised the late Alhaji Muniru’s service to the nation, urging the youth to emulate his dedication and humanity.

“He is a very distinguished public servant. He started from the Ministry of Health as a director, joined the Hajj Board at a point, and then became a minister of state under President Mahama, and held other significant positions in the country,” he said.

The Damongo MP recalled personal moments with Alhaji Muniru, noting that their family bond went back decades.

“In my teens, I remember my mother went to him to assist my grandmother in attending Hajj. I saw humanity in him; I saw his love for the Gonjaland and northern Ghana,” he added.

Although they came from different political backgrounds, Mr. Jinapor said they shared mutual respect and a cordial relationship.

“I always teased him that he almost took the seat from me in 2024, and we all laughed. Indeed, we had a strong mutual relationship,” he said.

He revealed that just two weeks before his passing, Alhaji Muniru had visited him in his office with his son for an extensive discussion on matters of importance.

Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru, and seven other persons died in the helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

The helicopter was transporting Ghana’s Minister of Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah; Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed; as well as Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate; and NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong.

The crew members were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
