Star Oil probes Asukawkaw tanker crash

Star Oil Ltd has launched an internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding a fatal accident involving one of its Bulk Road Vehicles near Asukawkaw in the Oti Region on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

The crash claimed four lives and left 14 others injured. According to eyewitness accounts, the tragedy occurred after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, ramming into the busy market and causing chaos.

In a statement, management said it will work closely with the police to determine the cause of the accident and ensure accountability.

“The Company has initiated its internal investigative processes and will collaborate fully with the police to determine the cause of the accident,” the statement said

The company added that it is also collaborating with emergency services and local authorities to assist the affected families and injured victims.

Star Oil expressed its condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
