Two people have been confirmed dead and six others injured in a road accident that happened at Mile 40 on the Buipe–Kintampo highway on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

Speaking to Citi News on Thursday, August 21, DOII Salisu M. Sirilbaini, the Public Relations Officer for the Savannah Regional Ghana National Fire Service, said the crash involved a Kia truck with registration number AF 5123–25.

The truck, which was loaded with groundnuts and carrying eight passengers, veered off the road. An empty trailer, also heading in the same direction from Bolgatanga to Accra, was involved in the collision.

According to an eyewitness, the trailer (registration number AW 1963–21), which was traveling from Bolgatanga to Kumasi, attempted to overtake the Kia truck, leading to the accident.

A rescue team from the Buipe Fire Station responded quickly and managed to save six people. Unfortunately, two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.

The injured victims are currently receiving treatment at the Buipe District Hospital.
