Calm has been restored in Sampa, a town in the Bono Region of Ghana, following violent chieftaincy-related disturbances that erupted on September 10, 2025, a police statement has said.
The clashes, which left one person dead and several others injured, prompted immediate intervention by the Ghana Police Service.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Police announced that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) had swiftly deployed reinforcement teams to the area to quell the violence and stabilise the situation.
The disturbances, stemming from local chieftaincy disputes, had caused fear and tension among residents.
Authorities say their immediate focus is on maintaining peace and preventing any further escalation of the conflict. No names of the deceased or injured have been released at this time, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safety and order, particularly in areas affected by traditional leadership disputes, which have historically been flashpoints for unrest in various parts of the country.
