Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as “Kantanka, the African Star,” has passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025, the Safo family and the Kristo Asafo Church have announced.
Described as a man of God, technological innovator, philanthropist, agriculturalist, and industrialist, Apostle Safo was a national icon whose life touched many. Romans 14:8, cited in the family’s statement, reflected his devotion: “For if we live, we live to the Lord and if we die, we die to the Lord.”
His remarkable journey was shaped by resilience, courage, and determination. Founder of the Kantanka brand, he elevated Ghana’s technological and industrial landscape while dedicating himself to philanthropy and community development.
The announcement described him as “a true genius, a beacon of hope for many, and a father to the fatherless,” noting that Ghana has lost a gallant son and a true legend. Tributes and memorial plans are expected in the coming days as the nation honours his enduring legacy.
