The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is scheduled to present the report on the mediation of the Bawku conflict to President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Member of Parliament and Spokesperson to the President in a statement on Tuesday December 9 noted that the presentation will take place at the Presidency at 4:00 p.m., according to a statement from the Office of the President.
The Asantehene was appointed by President Mahama earlier this year to lead efforts aimed at resolving the decades-long chieftaincy dispute in Bawku.
His mediation work began in April, when he met with representatives from both factions to initiate dialogue. Although discussions were temporarily suspended, they resumed in May, contributing to a period of relative calm in the conflict-prone area.
For years, the Bawku municipality has experienced recurring violence and social tension, resulting in loss of lives, curfews, and widespread disruption of local livelihoods.
The intervention by the Asantehene has been widely regarded as a critical step toward achieving lasting peace in the region.
