The United States Embassy in Accra says it will soon introduce a new system to support travellers heading to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Wednesday, January 21, the Embassy’s Press Attaché, Matthew Asada, said the initiative is not yet finalised but will be coming soon.

“Specifically for the World Cup, I also want to highlight something that is not yet finalised but it will be coming here shortly and we will have more information about that soon,” Asada said.

He explained that the system is called the FIFA Pass, which stands for the FIFA Prioritised Appointment Scheduling System.

“It is called the FIFA PASS. It is called the FIFA Prioritised Appointment Scheduling System and this will ensure that any non-immigrant visa applicant with a valid FIFA 2026 World Cup ticket is able to get an appointment before the World Cup itself,” he added.

The announcement comes as the U.S. Embassy in Accra continues to expand non-immigrant visa appointment availability, opening thousands of additional slots to meet rising demand.

The Embassy has urged Ghanaians planning to travel for the tournament to begin their visa applications early, warning that late applications may affect the ability to secure appointments and complete processing on time.

Applicants have also been reminded to use only the official U.S. visa appointment platform to avoid fraud and unauthorised intermediaries.

More details on the FIFA Pass are expected to be released once the system is finalised.
