Ghana Police Service in the Bono East Region has arrested a 48-year-old tricycle rider after seizing 397 slabs of suspected  cannabis n Techiman.

According to the Bono East Regional Police Command, the suspect, identified as Robert Tannor, was arrested on March 8, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m. following a road accident involving an unregistered “aboboyaa” (Motor King tricycle) he was riding.

Police in a statement dated Tuesday, March 10,  said the tricycle, which was transporting 14 bags of charcoal, crashed into a stationary Kia Rhino truck near the Techiman Methodist Park.

Officers who responded to the accident discovered compressed slabs of suspected cannabis concealed in the charcoal bags. A total of 397 slabs were retrieved from the scene.

The suspect sustained severe leg injuries in the accident and was rushed to the Holy Family Hospital for treatment, where he has been placed under police guard.

Meanwhile, police say the Kia Rhino truck involved in the accident was driven away from the scene, and authorities are appealing to the public to assist in tracing the driver to aid ongoing investigations.
