President John Dramani Mahama has directed the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) to take steps to absorb GH¢2 on every litre of diesel as part of measures to cushion consumers against recent fuel price increases.

The disclosure was made by the Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Commission, Edudzi Tamakloe, in a Facebook post on Monday.

According to Mr. Tamakloe, the intervention is intended to reduce the burden of rising fuel costs on Ghanaians, particularly commercial transport operators and businesses that depend heavily on diesel.

“President John Dramani Mahama has directed that the NPA takes steps to absorb GH¢2 on every liter of diesel to cushion the impact of recent fuel price increases,” he wrote.

He described the directive as “a further demonstration of the President’s care for the ordinary citizen.”
