The Minority in Parliament has called for the suspension of Sports Minister Kofi Adams to pave the way for an investigation into alleged irregularities surrounding arrangements to facilitate travel to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States and Canada.
Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Monday (12 October), Vincent Assafuah accused the minister of failing to conduct adequate due diligence on applicants whose names were submitted to the United States Embassy in connection with the travel arrangements.
The minister cannot escape liability
Assafuah argued that the minister could not absolve himself of responsibility by claiming that the names originated from the National Sports Authority (NSA), insisting that his office had a duty to verify the identities and affiliations of the individuals concerned.
