The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, has issued a call to political parties to address the concerning trend of sitting MPs losing their seats prematurely.

Expressing alarm over the situation, Bagbin emphasized the significant investment made by Parliament in training MPs, only for them to lose their seats after a term or two.

Notably, several experienced lawmakers from both sides of the aisle failed in their reelection bids during the 2024 parliamentary primaries, indicating a potential exodus from Parliament.

In his address on the Parliament floor, Bagbin urged the major political parties to collaborate in finding solutions to halt this concerning trend.
