Member of Parliament for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo has vehemently denied claims made by Ghanaian politician and businessman Kennedy Ohene Agyapong regarding the provision of a private aeroplane for her return to Ghana.

Among the allegations cleared up, are claims that Chief of Staff Frema Osei-Opare had provided her with GHS120,000 and she demanded to be appointed Deputy Majority Leader before attending Parliament.

Speaking on Onua FM with Nana Yaa Brefo and Isaac Ekow JB, Adwoa Safo refuted all other allegations levelled against her by Agyapong, labelling them as false.

“It’s all lies,” asserted Adwoa Safo, referring to Agyapong’s claims. “Kennedy Agyapong has rendered an apology to me. You can come to Parliament to interview him on the matter.”

Responding to inquiries regarding whether she believed Agyapong was responsible for tarnishing her image and contributing to her loss of the Dome-Kwabenya seat, Adwoa Safo attributed her defeat to the will of God, adding that for the sake of the “children she has with Kennedy Agyapong,” she would rather not comment on it.

The MP went further to admonish Ghanaians on the importance of verifying information before spreading it, urging individuals to exercise caution and diligence in discerning the truth.

Adwoa Safo lost her parliamentary seat to Mike Oquaye Jnr in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primary elections.

Adwoa Safo, who has represented the Dome-Kwabenya constituency since 2012, faced a formidable challenge from Mike Oquaye Jnr, son of the former Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Oquaye.

The primary, held on Saturday, January 27, saw Mike Oquaye Jnr securing a significant 1,194 votes, ultimately surpassing Adwoa Safo to become the NPP parliamentary candidate for Dome-Kwabenya.

Adwoa Safo, a lawyer and former Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament who has been a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics and a key member of the governing NPP, polled 328.

The outcome sets the stage for the upcoming general elections, with Mike Oquaye Jnr now positioned as the NPP’s candidate for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency.
