Nigerian afrobeats singer, Joseph Akinwale popularly known as Joeboy has said that individuals who frequently harass others on social media are not in love with themselves.

Speaking in an interview on 3FM Drive with Chrystal Kwame-Aryee, the songwriter revealed that the act of “trolling” is a reflection of how online trolls feel about themselves.

He revealed,” I feel like love can be the solution or love is the solution to a lot of things because people will treat themselves better if they truly love themselves.

“And I feel like sometimes when I see trolls on the internet, I think its an expressions about the way they feel about themselves,” he said on April 4.

He added, “I promise you if you love yourself, you won’t pickup a phone and say bad things about other people.”

“I know that love is the answer but it takes a long journey and a lot of effort and intention but the fact that I preach about love doesn’t mean you should come and look for my trouble.”

Joeboy further stressed the importance of social media in the music industry despite the platform being used as a tool to attack some artistes.

He recalled how he was discovered by Mr. Eazi through social media stressing that the platform has broken some barriers in the music industry.

The ‘Alcohol’ crooner said the platform has eradicated the era where a few top people in the industry select and choose the prominence and breakthrough of musicians they prefer.

“I feel like social media has broken the dodge, you know like at first there used to be gatekeepers in the industry that if this person does not accept or acknowledge you, you are not going to make it.

“Now all of a sudden you can just get into the industry by just posting a cover or a song of yourself singing randomly on your bed and next thing is it is getting millions of views and everybody wants to work with you and connect with you,” he explained.
