Three renowned veteran journalists will take a close look into the future of journalism in Ghana as they deliver the second in the series of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) 75th Anniversary Public Lecture in Ho on Thursday, July 11, 2024.

Prof Kwame Karikari, a communications lecturer and media freedom advocate; Cameron Duodu, a renowned columnist and international journalist, and Dr Akofa Segbefia, a media consultant, will take turns to discuss the topic: “75 years of excellence in journalism: Shaping the future” at the public lecture scheduled at the New Ho Municipal Assembly Hall at 9:30am.

It will be chaired by Rev Ruby Amable, a retired broadcaster, formerly of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, with the Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, as Special Guest.

Mounted on the support of MTN, Wisconsin International University College, Ghana, the Volta Regional Coordinating Council and the Ho Municipal Assembly, the public lecture will be attended by media practitioners and partners, academics, students and members of the general public.

It will be telecast live on national and local television and radio stations.

The theme for the GJA 75th Anniversary is: “75 years of excellence in journalism: Honouring the past, embracing the present and shaping the future”.

In order to give the anniversary a national character, the National Executive of the GJA decided to take the public lecture to the regions, with the Ashanti Region hosting the first in the series in Kumasi a few weeks ago.

It was highly successful, and the regional leadership of the GJA and other participants applauded the National Executive for organising a GJA national event for the first time in Kumasi.

We expect that the second public lecture in Ho will follow the norm of success established in Kumasi.
