President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended his congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama following his victory in the 2024 Presidential Election. The announcement came shortly after the Electoral Commission’s official declaration of results on the evening of December 9, 2024.

President Akufo-Addo made a personal call to Mahama, commending him on his decisive win and pledging his full cooperation for a smooth transfer of power on January 7, 2025. The President also expressed his readiness to work with the President-elect and his team to ensure a seamless transition.

In an official statement issued by the Director of Communications, Eugene Arhin, President Akufo-Addo lauded the Electoral Commission and the Ghanaian people for conducting a peaceful and credible election, reinforcing Ghana’s status as a stronghold of democracy in Africa.

“The President acknowledges the commitment and participation of all stakeholders, which have ensured that the democratic process in Ghana remains credible and peaceful,” the statement read.

Akufo-Addo urged all Ghanaians to come together in unity to uphold democracy and the rule of law. To formalize the transition process, he has invited President-elect Mahama for a meeting at Jubilee House on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

President Akufo-Addo reaffirmed his dedication to good governance and a peaceful transition of power, emphasizing its importance in further solidifying Ghana’s democratic legacy.

The President concluded his statement with a call for divine blessings for the nation, saying, “May God continue to bless our homeland Ghana and make her great and strong.”
