The newly elected Member of Parliament for the Essikado-Ketan constituency Professor Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah, has made a commitment to fulfill her mandate.

Her historic win broke the 20-year hold of the NPP in the constituency, which was previously part of the Sekondi constituency.

In an interview with 3news’ Ebenezer Atiemo after her victory thanksgiving service, Professor Ayensu acknowledged the significance of her new role and expressed her dedication to prioritizing youth and women’s development in the constituency.

She also vowed to revive stalled projects initiated by the previous NPP administration, with a focus on road construction. As a renowned humanitarian surgeon, educationist, and philanthropist, Professor Ayensu brings a wealth of experience to her new role.

Her selfless leadership style and commitment to the constituency’s development are expected to bring positive change to the area.

“When you look at our schools here, you’ll see that the infrastructure has become outdated. Moreover, human development has lagged behind compared to other constituencies, particularly in terms of job opportunities. Unfortunately, many of our youth have become idle.”

She has pledged to establish a skills center, which will complement President-elect John Dramani Mahama’s youth empowerment program.

“As Member of Parliament, my goal is to empower the youth by providing them with craftsmanship skills and startup packages. This will enable them to become self-sufficient and contribute positively to our community.”

“Additionally, I’m committed to supporting our school children, especially those from low-income families who struggle to afford basic school items. As we approach the new school term in January, my office will provide assistance to ensure that no child is left behind.”

“I believe that as a Member of Parliament, I have a responsibility to create opportunities that benefit my constituency. I’m eager to explore various initiatives and partnerships that can bring about positive change and improvement to our community.”

“My ultimate goal is to make a lasting impact that will be remembered for years to come. I envision a future where my constituents can proudly say that they have benefited from my leadership and support, and that I have played a role in shaping their success.” She stated.

By opening this skills center, she hopes to provide young people with the skills and training needed to thrive in various industries, thereby contributing to the country’s socio-economic development.
