The Interior Ministry has officially declared Friday, June 6, 2025, as a statutory public holiday in observance of Eid-ul-Adha.

In a statement signed by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the public was urged to observe the day as a holiday across the country.

The announcement is in line with the recognition of Eid-Ul-Adha as a statutory public holiday, which allows Muslims across the country to celebrate the important religious occasion with prayers, feasting, and charity.

Eid-Ul-Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is one of the most significant events on the Islamic calendar.

It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah — a story shared across Islamic faiths.

This year’s celebration is expected to bring together families, friends, and communities for prayers at various mosques and prayer grounds nationwide.

The Ministry advised the public to mark the day peacefully and in accordance with public health and safety regulations.
