The Ghana Education Service (GES) has clarified that the 2025/2026 academic calendar has not fully reverted to the single-track system, countering reports in some media outlets suggesting otherwise.
In a statement on its official Facebook page, the GES explained that the upcoming academic year accommodates both single-track and double-track schools, as explicitly outlined in the calendar released last week.
“The 2025/2026 academic year officially begins on Saturday, 18th October 2025, when all first-year students are expected to report,” the statement read.
Per the schedule, the academic year will end on 21st August 2026 for single-track schools, while double-track schools will close on 4th September 2026.
Daniel Fenyi, the Public Relations Officer of GES, emphasised that the clarification aims to ensure transparent and accurate communication to students, parents, and the wider public.
