Hundreds of young men and women who claim they were enlisted into the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) but have been awaiting appointment letters since 2021 have converged at the Flagstaff House to protest what they describe as unfair treatment and neglect by the government.
The group, some of whom traveled from as far as the Northern Region, Oti Region, and other parts of the country say they have grown frustrated by the prolonged silence and lack of communication from the authorities.
Many of the protestors insist they successfully went through the recruitment process during the 2021 intake, but have remained on “standby” without any formal deployment or appointment.
Speaking to newsmen on Thursday, several of the affected individuals expressed disappointment in how the situation has been handled, claiming that multiple attempts to get the attention of the current administration have yielded no results.
“We have waited for over three years. Some of us have now passed the age limit required to join the Armed Forces. We feel abandoned,” one protestor said.
