The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has advised the newly appointed Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto, to avoid entanglement in chieftaincy and land disputes within the region.
He emphasised that these issues lie outside the jurisdiction of the Police Service and fall under his purview as the traditional ruler of Asanteman.
He instructed that any chief who contacts the Police Commander regarding land matters should be referred to him (the Asantehene) for resolution.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II also directed that the commander promptly inform him of any land-related conflicts that come to his notice so that appropriate steps can be taken.
The Asantehene encouraged DCOP Akoto to strengthen measures aimed at curbing theft and other social vices to preserve peace and order in the Ashanti Region.
He made the call when the newly appointed Police Commander paid a courtesy visit to the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, 5th November 2025.
The outgoing Regional Police Commander, Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, expressed appreciation to His Majesty for his guidance and support during his tenure, before formally introducing Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Arthur Osei Akoto as his replacement.
The outgoing Regional Commander was accompanied by CP Francis Kouame Somian, the Deputy Regional Commander; Chief Superintendent Frederick Hammond, Manhyia Divisional Commander; and DSP Godwin Ahianyo, the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer.
