A tragic accident at Offinso Old Town in the Ashanti Region has claimed the lives of three people, while two others sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at a local hospital.

The crash occurred around 8 p.m. on Monday, January 12, Yaro said. The female victim, a building materials trader, was transporting goods from Kumasi to Offinso when the collision happened. She, her son, and the driver suffered severe burns and died at the scene.

The bodies have been sent to the hospital for further investigation, and police have taken over the scene to probe the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The two injured individuals—the trailer driver and his assistant—are currently receiving medical attention.

Yaro added that the accident caused heavy traffic along the Kumasi-Offinso highway, and reinforcement teams were deployed to manage the situation. Emergency response teams also arrived promptly to provide assistance to those affected.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, with particular focus on compliance with road safety regulations.
