The Member of Parliament for Builsa North, James Agalga, has been appointed the new Majority Leader in Parliament following a ministerial reshuffle announced by President John Dramani Mahama.
The change comes after the President nominated Mahama Ayariga as Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs-designate, resulting in his movement from his current role as Majority Leader.
President Mahama has also nominated the Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, as Minister for Defence-designate.
A statement from the Presidency said Mr. Adjei has been reassigned to the Defence Ministry and the changes have been submitted to Parliament through the Speaker in line with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution.
As part of the reshuffle, Ahmed Ibrahim, Member of Parliament, has been reassigned from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
The President has further nominated Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, MP, as Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation-designate.
The nominations are subject to approval by Parliament.
