Multiple award-winning Ghanaian rapper Michael Owusu Addo better known as Sarkodie has opened up about problems bedeviling the country’s music royalty system.

He believes the implementation of a well-organized system is key to ensuring artist get their rightful earnings.

Sarkodie said this during a panel discussion at the 3i Africa Summit Partners and Stakeholders Mixer held in Accra on March 7.

“The royalty system has been a major issue here in Ghana…But fixing it wouldn’t be that difficult. We just need to set up a proper system and collect the money that’s owed,” he said.

The panel focused on exploring the convergence of the Creative Industry, Policy, and Fintech.

Other influential figures from the creative industries joined Sarkodie on the panel, including KOD, Chief Moomen, and filmmaker Juliet Asante.

The 3i Africa Summit stands as a pioneering global event aimed at reshaping Africa’s economic landscape through strategic and sustainable capital allocation.

With a focus on fostering long-term growth and development, the summit serves as a platform for insightful discussions, collaboration, and innovative solutions to drive positive change across the continent’s financial ecosystem.
