The Western Region’s cholera outbreak has regretfully claimed 16 lives thus far.

Nevertheless, health authorities have made substantial strides in the cholera vaccination campaign. A total of 556,366 individuals have been vaccinated – 88.2% of the targeted population of 641,851 – on the final day.

In response to the crisis, Dr. Justice Amoh and the Justmoh Group of Companies team have provided vital support. The company has generously donated essential hospital materials to major hospitals leading the outbreak response efforts, demonstrating their commitment to aiding the community during this challenging time.

For the past month, the Western Region, particularly Sekondi-Takoradi, has been battling a cholera outbreak that has claimed 16 lives and affected over 1,700 individuals. The Kwesimintsim Hospital has been at the forefront of treatment efforts, with a peak of over 50 cases recorded daily.

However, since the introduction of the cholera vaccine, the situation has taken a positive turn. According to Nurse Manager of the Kwesimintsim Government Hospital Vivian Zormelo, the cases have reduced drastically. This welcome decline is a testament to the effectiveness of the vaccination campaign and the tireless efforts of healthcare professionals in the region.

Currently, we have 20 new cases of cholera, with two new admissions. While we’ve recorded nine death cases, our official tally stands at five, as some of the deceased were brought to the hospital in critical condition.”

“Encouragingly, the number of new admissions has decreased significantly compared to previous weeks, with only two or three new cases being reported daily.” She mentioned.

In response to the cholera outbreak, Dr. Justice Amoh and his team at Justmoh Group of Companies have stepped in to provide critical support. Recognizing the need for urgent assistance, the company has donated essential hospital materials to major hospitals at the forefront of the outbreak response.

According to Eric Kofi Ansah, Group Human Resource Manager at Justmoh Group of Companies, this donation is part of the company’s commitment to giving back to the community and supporting efforts to combat the outbreak.

“Beyond our core focus on road construction, Justmoh Companies prioritize supporting communities in times of need. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we partnered with hospitals to provide essential medical supplies.”

“Similarly, in response to the recent cholera outbreak, which has tragically claimed lives and affected many, we deemed it necessary to assist our local hospitals with critical materials to help combat the spread of the disease.” He said.

The Medical Superintendent of Effia Nkwanta Hospital Dr. Joseph Tambil, representing his colleagues, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Justmoh Company for their generous donation. He assured them that the hospital materials provided would be utilized effectively to support the ongoing efforts to combat the cholera outbreak.

“We sincerely accept the generous donation from Justmoh. This is not their first or second time supporting us; rather, it’s a consistent demonstration of their corporate social responsibility. We are deeply grateful for their ongoing commitment.

Rest assured that these donated items will be utilized effectively for their intended purpose, supporting our efforts to manage and combat the cholera outbreak.” He assured the company for proper utilization of the items.
