Director-General of the Ghana Education Service(GES), Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, has revealed that WASSCE candidates in Bawku Senior High, Zuarungu, Nalerigu and Nkwanta Senior High Schools have reported to school to sit for the 2025 WAEC examinations despite heightened tensions in such areas.
The 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE), scheduled to run from Tuesday, August 5 to Friday, September 19, will see a total of 461,640 candidates participating, comprising 207,381 males and 254,259 females, across 701 examination centres.
This reflects a marginal 0.2% increase compared to the 2024 figures.
However, there have been concerns about security measures in areas of Bawku and Nkwanta, leading to the shutdown of second-cycle institutions following renewed chieftaincy clashes.
