The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) says the suspended 2025/2026 recruitment screening exercise for Greater Accra will resume on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin of the Ghana Navy, Acting Director General of Public Relations.

She explained that the screening will be conducted across eight sub-centres in five locations as part of measures to ensure an orderly process. “All qualified applicants in batches of 600 persons will receive an SMS specifying their reporting dates, batches and designated centres,” the statement noted.

The designated screening centres are El-Wak Stadium (two centres), Nicholson Park at Burma Camp (two centres), the Air Force Base at Burma Camp, the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) in Teshie (two centres), and the Eastern Naval Command in Tema.

Applicants have been urged to strictly follow the instructions provided in the SMS notifications and check the recruitment portal for additional updates.

Those who do not receive a message by November 20 are advised to call the helpline or contact the WhatsApp number provided for assistance.

GAF further cautioned that families and friends should not accompany applicants to the centres to reduce congestion, emphasising that non-applicants will not be permitted entry.

The recruitment exercise was suspended earlier following a tragic stampede that resulted in casualties. According to the statement, a Board of Inquiry set up to investigate the circumstances is currently working.

To ensure transparency, the entire Greater Accra recruitment team has been replaced with new leadership — Commodore F.A. Nyarko, Colonel F. Kusi-Darko and Colonel G.B. Eduah — who now head Human Resources, Manpower, and Information Technology, respectively.

Captain Arhin assured the public that anyone found culpable will face sanctions.

She added that the Armed Forces deeply regrets the incident and has extended sympathies to the bereaved families.

GAF also pledged continued support for the injured, who will receive free medical care at the 37 Military Hospital until full recovery.

A “special recruitment package” will also be offered to the injured and the affected families.

“The Ghana Armed Forces continues to count on the cooperation of the general public in this endeavour,” the statement concluded.
