Effutu MP and Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has rejected a viral social media post criticizing Ghana’s Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, claiming his account was hacked.
The post argued that laws criminalizing individuals based on sexual orientation or personal relationships are not protective and have no place in any civilized parliament. Afenyo-Markin denies writing it, stating the content does not represent his views.
The incident triggered online debate, with many seeing the post as a break from the NPP’s stance on the bill. While Parliament has passed the bill, it remains unratified due to ongoing procedural, constitutional, and human rights concerns.
