The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has adjourned its sitting after the Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), Michael Harry Yamson, failed to appear before it for the second time.
The Committee on Monday expressed strong displeasure over the official’s absence, describing it as a show of gross disrespect to Parliament.
“The Administrator takes everybody in the office out on the trip? This is gross disrespect and nothing else. The last time, the same excuse was given, and we said we were going to reschedule it and for him to appear, or a respective director to come along so that we speak to the issues,” the Chairperson of PAC, Abena Osei-Asare, fumed as it adjourned the sitting.
“This is gross disrespect. We’ll write to the Chief of Staff about his behaviour,” she added.
The latest absence marks the second time Mr Yamson has failed to appear before the Committee, prompting members to consider formally drawing the attention of the Chief of Staff to the matter.
The Committee did not proceed with its scheduled business and adjourned the sitting following the official’s failure to attend.
