GRIDCo says its Akwatia substation suffered a fire incident resulting in Thursday power cut

The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) has informed the the public that a fault caused interruption of power supply to residents of Akwatia Township and its surroundings in the Eastern Region.

GRDICo explains that at 20:00 hrs on Thursday, 30th May, 2024, the Akwatia substation suffered a fire incident.

This resulted in the curtailment of power supply to Akwatia Township, Oda, Kade, Asamankese and adjoining towns, a statement said.

“Our engineers are working quickly to resolve the fault and restore power supply as
quickly as possible.

“GRIDCo apologises for the inconveniences caused,” the statement added.
